Printing your art

Print at home, one careful proof at a time

Start small, check the settings, then let the ink and paper have their say.

Let’s take it step by step

  1. Open the full home-printing guide and check that your purchased file suits the physical size you want.
  2. Choose paper that works with your printer, then follow the printer’s paper-loading and quality instructions.
  3. Open the purchased image in a suitable printing application. Keep the original proportions and choose a complete-image fit rather than an automatic crop.
  4. Check paper size, orientation, scale, border and the visible signature in the preview.
  5. Make one proof first, let it dry as the ink and paper maker advise, then judge it in useful light before committing to a larger print.

What to expect

You have a small proof to assess before using more paper and ink.

A few things to know

  • The detailed Mac, Windows, colour and troubleshooting instructions are in the home-printing guide; printer controls vary by model.
  • A bright screen and printed paper will not look identical. Changing a resolution label alone does not create image detail.
