Night Bird Portrait

A broad-faced night bird fills the frame with intense amber eyes, layered grey-brown feathers and dense white, orange and gold dot-style detail. A deep blue-black circular background frames the head closely, giving the portrait a focused, almost medallion-like presence. The strong gaze makes this a natural statement for a study, living room, hallway or wildlife-themed space. From across the room the face and eyes hold attention immediately; closer in, the feather pattern, fine dots and surrounding geometry create a much more intricate surface.

I wanted the bird's face to stay the centre of gravity, so I kept the background dark and circular and let the detailed marks follow the feather structure. The specific species is not asserted here because the protected record does not verify it. The Aboriginal-inspired dot-style treatment belongs to my contemporary personal practice and is used as a compositional choice for pattern, rhythm and framing.
