Flowering Outback Tree

A broad flowering tree stands across open grassland, its canopy packed with blue, orange and cream blooms beneath a soft sunset sky. The low horizon and distant ranges give the horizontal composition plenty of breathing room, while the tree remains the unmistakable centre. This is a natural feature for a living room, dining room, hallway or office where one generous burst of colour can hold a wide wall. From across the room the tree reads as a strong silhouette; closer up, the many flowers and small patterned details become the reward.

I wanted the tree to feel abundant without losing the open-country setting around it. The flowering canopy carries most of the colour, while the land stays quieter and warmer underneath. The patterned and dot-style details are part of my contemporary Aboriginal-inspired personal practice, used as compositional choices for rhythm and texture.
