Colour Currents in Blue and Orange

Blue, turquoise, orange, gold and violet bands flow across this abstract composition in winding channels of dense circular and dot-style detail. Rounded clusters gather between the larger curves, creating the feeling of currents, pools and reef-like movement without depicting one literal underwater scene. The saturated palette makes this a strong feature for a living room, hallway, study or coastal-inspired space where colour can take the lead. From a distance the broad flowing bands establish the rhythm; close up, the many small circles, gradients and tiny repeated marks turn the surface into something much more intricate.

I wanted the colour to move like water without turning the piece into a literal map or reef illustration. The larger curves carry the eye through the image, and the smaller circular fields act like pauses between them. The Aboriginal-inspired dot-style treatment is part of my contemporary personal practice, used here as a compositional choice for rhythm, colour and depth.
