Red-Crested Cockatoo Portrait

A dark cockatoo-like bird stands in profile against a softly lit forest, its dramatic red-orange crest and shoulder colour picked out with hundreds of pale dots. The darker body and curved beak create a strong silhouette while the warm woodland behind it keeps the portrait from feeling flat. This vertical wildlife piece can hold a living room, study, hallway or bedroom wall without needing much around it. The crest is the first thing you notice from a distance; closer up, the layered feather marks, dot-style detail and muted forest floor become part of the experience.

I built the composition around the contrast between the dark bird and the bright crest, then let the background remain softer so the profile stayed clear. The exact species is not claimed because the current protected evidence does not verify it. The Aboriginal-inspired dot-style treatment is part of my contemporary personal practice and is used here for texture, rhythm and colour.
