Cosmic Emu in Starry Blue

A stylised emu stands beneath a black star-filled sky, with a deep blue spiral sweeping across its body and warm gold points of light scattered around it. The vertical portrait feels dramatic without losing the bird's distinctive long neck and curious expression. This is a strong feature for a living room, bedroom, hallway or study where deep blue and black can create atmosphere. From across the room the emu and spiral dominate; closer up, the many stars and dot-style marks bring a richer celestial texture.

I wanted to combine the familiar shape of an emu with the simple imaginative pleasure of a night sky full of movement. The spiral and dot-style details are personal compositional choices within my contemporary Aboriginal-inspired practice, used for atmosphere rather than to assign a fixed cultural story.
