Tree Over Layered Country

A dark tree rises over layered bands of orange, rust, cream and black, with thousands of small dots following the curves of the land. The vertical composition feels graphic and grounded, using the tree as a strong anchor against the flowing country behind it. This earthy piece can sit comfortably in a living room, hallway, bedroom or study where warm colour is welcome without becoming too busy. The tree reads cleanly from a distance; closer up, the layered bands reveal a patient rhythm of repeated marks.

I wanted the land to feel as though it was moving around the stillness of the tree. The dot-style bands are part of my contemporary Aboriginal-inspired personal practice and are used here as compositional choices for rhythm, texture and depth.
