Possum in Golden Country

A small possum sits against a glowing orange and gold field, framed by flowing navy bands, repeated dots and stylised leaves. The animal's bright eyes and tiny paws give the portrait plenty of personality, while the patterned background keeps the composition bold and decorative. This vertical artwork would suit a living room, hallway, bedroom or gift display where warm colour and Australian wildlife can bring a little character. The possum is immediately readable from a distance, then the layered pattern becomes more noticeable up close.

I wanted the possum to stay sweet and recognisable while the surrounding colour did something more graphic. The flowing bands and dot-style details are part of my contemporary Aboriginal-inspired visual practice, used here as personal compositional choices for rhythm and warmth.
