The Blue Thread

A narrow blue channel draws a clear line through a wide field of gold. It begins close to the viewer, bright with scattered cream and amber marks, then bends gently towards the distant hills. Fine grasses and pale flower-like dots crowd both banks, their repeated stems making the openness beyond feel larger. Two low rocky rises interrupt the horizon beneath a blue sky. With no large foreground tree to claim attention, the water becomes the work’s guide: a simple shape carrying the eye through an abundance of detail. This purchase is a digital download. The field might seem endless without that small thread of blue. It gives the eye a way through without dividing the landscape into separate parts. Read as a reflection on direction, the image suggests that a modest, continuous line can be enough to make a wide space feel approachable.
