Outback Billabong

Lines of white, blue and orange dots wind across a deep blue billabong, passing between green lily-pad forms. Tall, drooping trees gather on either bank beneath a star-filled sky, with warm light shining through the distant opening. Their long reflections give the water a still centre within all that decorative movement. The image invites a slow journey from the close floating shapes towards the glowing horizon. I developed this piece around the way reflected light, shoreline reeds and changing water create their own natural rhythm. The repeated marks follow that visual movement and help connect water, bank and vegetation without assigning fixed cultural meanings to the marks. It is a contemporary personal response to Australian landscape and the feeling of still water holding a whole lot of small movement.
