Old Man Pa Kangaroo in Ember Grass

Old Man Pa fills the frame against glowing ember grasses and a warm orange-red background, with darker ears and grey-brown fur holding the portrait steady. The close crop gives the kangaroo real presence, while the surrounding marks keep the image lively rather than formal. This artwork suits a living room, hallway, study or bedroom where warm earth colour can become the focal point. The face reads clearly from across the room; closer in, the layered fur, grasses and small patterned details around the background reward a slower look.

I wanted this version to feel like late light compressed into a portrait. The grasses rise around the kangaroo while the background shifts between ember orange, red and darker patches, creating movement without taking attention away from the face. The visible dot-style details are part of my contemporary Aboriginal-inspired composition and are used for atmosphere rather than assigned cultural symbolism.
