Twisting Tree and Flowing Water

A huge twisting tree rises from rocks beside flowing water, its trunk dividing the composition between glowing orange light on one side and cool blue-white movement on the other. Dense dot-style marks follow the bark, branches, sky and water, turning the scene into a richly patterned meeting of land, light and current. This is a strong feature for a living room, hallway, study or dining space where a vertical composition and deep colour can carry the wall. The tree's sweeping trunk reads first from a distance; closer in, the patterned bark, rocky foreground and contrasting warm and cool sides keep revealing more.

I wanted the tree to feel like the hinge of the whole image, joining two very different colour moods without making either side feel separate. The flowing water and rocks ground the lower edge while the branches push the eye upward. The Aboriginal-inspired dot-style treatment is part of my contemporary personal practice, used here as a compositional choice for texture, rhythm and contrast.
