About this artwork
A pale, twisting tree reaches across the upper right of this flower-filled landscape, its open branches making room for the sky. On the opposite side, a low sun lights cloud edges and washes the valley in honeyed colour. Large cream flowers crowd the near slope, with red and yellow blooms woven between them. Beyond that rich foreground, the land relaxes into long, open bands and a distant ridge. The balance is part of the appeal: intricate and close at hand below, spacious and unhurried beyond.
