Old Man Pa Kangaroo in Fiery Country

Old Man Pa stands between dark tree trunks and a fiery orange-gold background, with patterned colour gathering around the lower edge of the kangaroo portrait. The central face is clear and steady while the surrounding bush shapes and dots give the image depth and warmth. It can hold a feature wall in a living room, hallway, study or sitting room without needing a lot of extra decoration nearby. From a distance the face and bright opening between the trees carry the composition; closer in, the small marks and layered ground detail become more prominent.

I used the dark trees almost like a frame inside the artwork, keeping Old Man Pa central while the warm country glows behind him. That contrast gave me a way to make the portrait feel contained without feeling closed in. The visible dot-style details are part of my contemporary Aboriginal-inspired composition, used for texture and rhythm as personal compositional marks rather than as a claimed cultural story.
